POSITION SUMMARY
We are currently seeking Civil Engineering Interns for summer 2027 who are eager to gain hands-on experience and develop a practical understanding of the civil engineering and land development industry. We value individuals who take initiative, communicate effectively, approach their work with curiosity and attention to detail, and contribute positively to both project teams and our company culture.
M2’s internship program is designed to provide meaningful, real-world experience in a supportive and collaborative environment. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals while developing their technical, professional, and communication skills. Through exposure to multiple phases of the project lifecycle, interns will gain a better understanding of how projects progress from initial planning through completion, how multidisciplinary teams work together, and how strong client and professional relationships contribute to successful projects and long-term careers in the industry.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the planning, design, and permitting of civil engineering and land development projects
- Assist with the preparation and modification of engineering documents, including reports, calculations, exhibits, specifications, plans, and construction documents
- Utilize engineering and design software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and other applicable programs, to support project design and documentation
- Assist with reviewing reports, maps, surveys, drawings, engineering plans, aerial imagery, and other project information to support planning and design activities
- Support the evaluation of site conditions, including topography, drainage, utilities, access, zoning, and other factors that may affect project feasibility and design
- Assist with zoning, ordinance, entitlement, and permitting research and documentation
- Perform basic engineering calculations and apply engineering principles and mathematics under the direction of professional staff
- Assist with quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and other project-related calculations, as needed
- Participate in site visits, field observations, and construction inspections, as needed
- Assist with project research, due diligence, data collection, and documentation
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, designers, surveyors, and other team members on project tasks and assignments
- Maintain organized and accurate project files, documentation, and supporting information
- Participate in internal meetings, training opportunities, and other professional development activities
Perform other project-related and administrative duties as assigned
POSITION PRE-REQUISITES AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D preferred
- Familiarity with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with effective analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Willingness to learn new software, processes, and technical skills
- Willingness to assist project teams with a variety of assignments and responsibilities
- Ability and willingness to work in both an office environment and at project sites
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
